John T. Alden, 89, Rockville, died Tuesday in St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis. Mr. Alden owned and operated John Alden Ford Sales at Rockville until 1986. He served in the Army during World War II in the Adjutant General´s School at Ft. Washington and was executive officer with the infantry Officers´ Candidate School at Fontainebleau, France. His memberships included: American Automobile Association, where he was president of the Terre Haute district; small town representative to the national Ford Dealers Advertising Committee; Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and deacon; president of Rockville Commercial Club; Indiana Farm Bureau; Rockville Savings and Loan Association; Rockville Rotary Club; Rockville Consolidated School Board; chairman of Parke County Red Cross; committeeman of Pack 66 of the Boy Scouts of America; 32 degree member of Parke Lodge 8 Free & Accepted Masons; Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute; Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute; American Legion Fellenzer Post; Paul Taylor Post of Veterans of Foreign Wars; Rockville Elks Lodge; Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at Indiana University; and he received a Sagamore of the Wabash from former Gov. Matthew Welch. He was a 1932 Rockville High School graduate and attended West Point Military Academy in 1933-34 before receiving a business degree in 1937 from IU.
