Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg for Leslie W. Adkins 68 of 307 N. Main Street who died at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Hospital at at Danville, Ill. Rev. Vernon Souder will officiate and burial will be in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery in Kingman. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 tonight in the funeral home. Friends may call there today. Mr. Adkins was employed by the Journal-Review from March 30 to June 30 last year when failing health forced him to give up his position. He was responsible for establishing many of the newspaper's motor routes in Western Indiana. He had retired after 15 years with Grab-It-Here Food Market in Rockville where he was a butcher. He was a member of Veedersburg United Methodist church, Modern Woodman Lodge of Kingman and Masonic Lodge 314 of Kingman. He was educated near Steam Corner and in Hillsboro. Born May 16, 1903, near Steam Corner, he was a son of George Adkins and Carrie Etter. He was married to Mabel Drake June 10, 1925 in Kingman. Survivors include the widow; a son, Jim Adkins of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. James (Norman Jean) Strean of Veedersburg, a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Babb of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren and two nephews, Larry and John Adkins of Wallace. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Leslie W. Adkins, 68, of Veedersburg, a former Kingman resident, died at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 2, in Lake View Memorial Hospital at Danville, Ill. He had been ill several months. Mr. Adkins was born May 16, 1903 near Steam Corner, the son of George and Carrie Etter Adkins. He married Mabel Drake June 10, 1925, in Kingman who survives. He attended school at Steam Corner and Hillsboro. For several years he was employed as a butcher at the Rockville Grab-It-Here. After retirement they moved to Veedersburg seven years ago and for a few months he was employed by the Journal-Review, Crawfordsville, establishing the newspaper's motor routs throughout western Indiana. Mr. Adkins was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church, Modern Woodman Lodge of Kingman and Masonic Lodge of Kingman. Survivors are the widow, a son, Jim Adkins of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. James (Norma Jean) Strean of Veedersburg; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Babb of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren and two nephews, Larry and John Adkins of Wallace.
