DANVILLE, Ill. -- Leslie "Pete" Adkins, 67, of Danville, Ill., died Wednesday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital here. A self-employed painter, Mr. Adkins was a member of the Veedersburg Christian Church. Born Jan. 3, 1904 in Veedersburg, he was a son of Lucky and Esther M. Keyes Adkins. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mary Froedge of Veedersburg; and two nieces, Mrs. Tanzy Hershberger and Mrs. Karen Sue McDonald, both of Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by a brother John. Mr. Adkins willed his body to the University of Illinois Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. Mike Smythers officiating. The family requests that flowers and other memorials be omitted.

VEEDERSBURG, Ind. (CNS) — Memorial services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fishero Funeral Home for Leslie P. "Pete" Adkins, 67, who died Wednesday (Aug. 25, 1971) in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. He had been a patient since Sunday and had been ill several years. The Rev. Mike Smuthers will officiate. The family has requested no memorials as he had willed his body to science, the University of Illinois Medical Center. Born Jan. 3, 1904, in Veedersburg, he was the son of Luckey and Esther M. Keys Adkins. He had never married and had been a self employed painter. He was a member of the Veedersburg Christian Church. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mary Froedge of Veedersburg; and two nieces, Tanzy Jo Hershberger and Karen Sue McDonald, both of Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, John. Mr. Adkins had resided in Veedersburg all of his life until moving to Danville five years ago.
