George Belifield ADKINS, son of the late Dr. Jehu and Elizabeth RHODES Adkins, was born Nov 9, 1872 in Scott's Prarie community. In his early days he received his education at the Indiana School for the Deaf graduating in 1896. George liked sports, taking the most interest in baseball and bicycling; become one of the best bicycle riders int he state. On April 8, 1902, he was married to Carrie ETTER who survives with two sons, Leslie of Kingman; Kenneth at home and one daughter, Mrs. Gertrude BABB of Crawfordsville; besides two grandchildren, Norma Jena and Jimmie George Adkins. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Mildred KERR of BLoofield Hills, MI and a host of relatives and friends. He was prec in death by his fther, mother, two brothers, James and Wallace and one siter, Mrs. Amanda THomas. George's married life was that of a farmer in the community in which he was b. and lived his entire life. Several years ago he joined the Scott's Prairie Christian Church and held to that faith the remainder of life. During the years of 1939 and 1940 he served as one of the directors of the Arhibald Memorial Home for the Aged Deaf, devoting much of his interest so that institution but owing to his declining health, he was force d to residn his directorship in 1941. Geo. had been in declinign health the past 4 years but he never made any complaints. Even his immediate family was unaware of his seriousness until the morning of July 14 he becmae very ill and was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill where the bet of care was given him and on June 23 he underwent surgerical operation from which he never rallied and that evening at 6:51 he was called to the Great Beyond where he suffers no more.

George Adkins, 69, a life time resident of the vicinity in the southeastern part of Fountain county died at the St. Eizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill Tues evening at 6 o'clock June 23. He was the youngest child of Dr. Jehu and Mrs. Elizabeth Rhodes adkins. He was born Nov 9, 1872 on the farm where he has spent his enitre life. On APril 8 1902 he was married to Carrie Etter. He was a membe rof the Scott's Prarie Church and graduated from the mute college in Indianpaolis. the survivors are the widow, two sons, Leslie Adkins of Kingman and Kenneth Adkins at home, a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Babb of C'ville and one sister Mrs. Mildred Kerr of Detroit Mich and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the lat ehome Fri afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Whitman of Mulberry in charge. Burial in Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown.

Hillsboro, June 24 - George Adkins, 69, of the Scott's Prairie neighborhood southwest of Hillsboro died about 6 pm. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Danville, Ill where he underwent a surgical operation Tuesday morning. He was taken tot he hospital about 10 days ago. Mr. Adkins spent his entire life on the farm where he was born on Nov 2, 1872, the son of Dr. John Adkins and Elizabeth Rhodes Adkins. He was married On April 6, 1902 to Miss Carrie Etter, who survives along with 3 children, Leslie Adkins of Kingman, Kenneth at home, and Mrs. Gertrude Babb of Crawfordsville. One sister, Mrs. Mildred Kerr of Detroit, Mich and two grandchildren also survive. Mr. Adkins was a mute and was a graduate of the School for Mutes at Indianapolis. He was a member of the Scott's Prairie Church. The funeral will be held from the home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in charge of Rev. Whitman of Mulberry. Burial will be made in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
