ACKER, Dave Benny - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Dave Benny Acker, 70, RR 1, Covington, died at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Danville, Illinois.

  He was born April 16, 1913 in Jefferson, Texas, the son of frank F. and Mattie M. Kelly Acker. On December 24, 1949 he married Ellen Catherine crane in Thibodaux, Louisiana, who survives. A veteran of World War II, he retired in 1982 as a mechanic with Dick Varne Mobile station in Danville. He was a former member of the American Legion.

  Other survivors include a son, David W. Walls of Littleton, Colorado; five daughters, Margaret C. Krisch of St. Petersburg, Florida, Gail M. Day of Tilton, Illinois, Carlann Walls of Columbus, Ohio, Tracy E. Gay of Tilton, and Dawn M. Walls of Danville; a brother, John Acker of Sunset, Louisiana; three sisters, Molly Strange of Vader, Texas, Jewell Lewing of Texas City, Texas, and Lillian Laughton of Baytown, Texas; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

  Services were conducted Friday at Veterans Administration Protestant Chapel with Rev. Ben Cox officiating. Burial was in Veterans Administration National Cemetery. -s-
