After an illness of many months, Mrs. Martha Jane Abolt, 83, widow of Marion Abolt, died at her home south of Newtown, Thursday evening Feb 4 at 4:30 following a heart attack. Her husband preceded her in death two years ago. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Miller and was born on Feb 4, 1860 near Stone Bluff, having passed away on her 83rd birthday anniversary. On Nov 17, 1887, she was married to Marion Abolt and they went to housekeeping on the farm where she died and had spent the remainder of her life. She was a member of the Newtown Baptist Church. The survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Oveta Smith with whom she lived and Mrs. Naoma Bales, of near Newtown and a son, Borden Abolt also of near Newtown; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Alice Slusser of near Mellott and two brothers. Funeral service was held from the late home Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock with burial in the Union Cemetery west of Newtown. - kbz

Wingate, Feb 4 - Martha Jane Abolt, 80 died at her home two miles south of Newtown early Thursday. She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Opeta Smith at home and Mrs. Naomi Bales, Newtown; a son, Baden Abolt, Newtown.  The body will be taken to the home where friends may call Friday. Services will be held from the residence Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Union Cemetery. - kbz
