Word of the death of Mrs. Gayle Young Abbott, age 39, of San Diego, Calif., a native of Fountain County, was received by relatives in this area Saturday, Sept. 8. Mrs. Abbott, who died in a hospital in San Diego after a brief illness, was the youngest daughter of William and Grace McCann Young. She was born April 26, 1923 in Wabash Township. Before her marriage June 6, 1947 to Ben Abbott, who survives, she was employed in Washington, D. C., and later went to California where she had since resided. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are: one daughter, Patricia Gaye; one son, Ronald Timothy, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. Carryl Chesterman of Chico, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Helen Conover of Champaign, Ill.; and one brother, William Young of Hillsboro, Ohio. Three aunts, Mrs. R. Carl Keller of Covington Rt. 3, Mrs. Dalmer Allen of Mellott and Mrs. George Mattern of Attica, and one uncle, Harold McCann of Yeddo, reside in this area. Funeral services and burial will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, in San Diego.
