Steve Abbott, Rt. 1, West Lebanon, who was critically injured in an automobile accident Friday, June 13, became the third to die as a result of that crash. He died 3:47 a.m. Friday at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill.
Killed in the crash were his mother, Mrs. Audrey L. Abbott, and Mark Bush, Rt. 1, West Lebanon.
Also injured and still listed in “serious” condition at Burnham City Hospital at Champaign, Ill., were Michael Gooden, 20, West Lebanon and Bruce E. Powell, 20, Rt. 2, Williamsport. Powell is hospitalized in the trauma section and Gooden on the neuro floor.
Services for Abbott are pending at the West Funeral Home at Oneida, Tenn.
The Abbott family was residents of Tennessee, then lived at Muncie for 14 years before moving to the West Lebanon area recently. J. B. Abbott, father and husband of the accident victims, is employed at Harrison Steel Casting Co.

Mrs. Abbott’s body was taken to Oneida, Tenn., where services and burial will be held Tuesday.
She was born and raised at Oneida, and lived in Muncie for 14 years before moving recently to the West Lebanon area. She was married in 1949 at Oneida to J. B. Abbott, who survives and is employed at Harrison Steel Castings Co. in Attica. Mrs. Abbott was a member of the Southern United Baptist Church at Muncie. Surviving with the husband are three sons, Lee of Muncie, Steve at home, and Marine Corps Pvt. Dennie Joe, stationed in North Carolina; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Judy) Johnson of Oneida, Tenn., and Mrs. Tommy (Rita) Christie of Gaston; one brother, James Yancy of North Carolina. Also surviving are six grandchildren. Fisher Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements. – thanks to S
