Barbara J. (Cooper)
Zink, 67, of Attica (Winthrop) died Wednesday, September 20, 2000 at 10:52 p.m.
in Provena United Samaritan Medical Center, Danville, Illinois. She had been
hospitalized since Saturday. Born in Lafayette on January 28, 1933, she was the
daughter of the late Eugene and Velda (Ramey) Cooper. Barbara lived for several
years in Lafayette, where she attended St. Francis School. She later lived in
Clarks Hill for over 20 years, moving to the Carbondale area and since 1988 has
lived in Winthrop. Her marriage was to Donald L. Zink on January 7, 1951 in Dayton.
He survives. She was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting teddy bears and
porcelain keepsake dolls. Also surviving, are: four daughters, Donna Ray and
Stacey (Richard) Starks, both of Lafayette; Jane (David) Hicks of Covington and
Deborah (Gary) Mitchell of Battle Ground; a son, Edward (Una) Zink of West
Lafayette; three brothers, Charles (Virginia) Cooper and Milton (Donna) Cooper,
both of Lafayette and Phillip (Shirley) Cooper of Green River, S.C.; nine
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was a foster mother to many
children. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Douglas Zink.
Visitation was Saturday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Service there on Sunday
with Rev. Dr. Stephen Redman officiating. Interment in Independence Cemetery.
