The news of the death of David Zeigler was a great shock to the
people of this community as he had been sick for only a couple of weeks and
then was not thought to be critically ill but on March 7 at 3:15 a.m. he died.
He was born Nov 10, 1866, in Fountain County, Indiana and in 1879 came to
Kansas with his parents. He was married May 9, 1889 to Minnie L. Ferch. To this
union were born four children: Clara, Ellen, Mable and Clarence. He leaves to mourn their loss the wife, one
daughter, Ellen, the son Clarence, two foster children: Mrs. Hattie Nading and
John Houts, a sister Mrs. Arissa Smiley and brother George Zeigler, besides a
host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the
Presbyterian Church Tuesday morning at 11 by Rev. SF Wishart of Chetopa and
interment was in Lake Creek cemetery. Mr. Zeigler was president of AHTA lodge
No 127 and on his casket rested a beautiful wreath as a token of esteem from
his lodge brethren. – kbz
