Alva, son of Wm. and Abby Zackmire, was born June 1, 1883, and died Feb. 21 1907, aged 23 years, 8 months and 21 days, his mother having died just 7 months ago. It seems to hard to give up our living ones, but God knows best. They are taken away for some cause, but we know not what. Alva was a good boy and we hope has joined his angel mother. He has crossed the dark river of death to enter into a far better and brighter home than the earth can give. While sadness and sorrow has cast its night of gloom over the bereaved family and they are awakened to the sad reality of this dear brothers loss, it is difficult to realize that it is all for the better, but worldly cares are banished from him forever and he is in the care of Him who said, βhe that believeth on me and is faithful shall be saved,β and Oh what a happy meeting that was when his angel mother met him at the gate of gold to bring him into their angel band that she might have one of her children with her. He is the first one to go out of ten children and we know not which will be called next, but we hope they may live a life that when God calls them they be prepared to meet those that have gone before. He leaves a father, four brothers, five sisters and many friends to mourn his loss. As one brother and one sister were not present, his funeral was not preached. Rev. McHargue of Kingman made a prayer after which the remains were laid to rest in the Zackmire cemetery. β S
