Mathias V. Yount, a well known and highly respected citizen of the county died at his home in Mellot, Ind., Monday morning after an illness of a few weeks. He was born March 10 1832 near Lexington, NC. At any early age, with his parents, he moved to Indiana and settled in Fountain county. At the age of 19 deceased attended the Bloomingdale academy and was a classmate of Speaker Joseph G. Cannon while at his institution. At the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted in Company H of the famous Sixty-third regiment of Indiana volunteers and returned home with a good record. He was a life long Republican, and lived at various times in different parts of the county. A wife and four children, Mrs. Charles Home of Newtown, Ind., Mrs. Indiana Little, Urbana, Ill., Mrs. Charles Moorhouse of Veedersburg, and Hannibal C. Yount, of this city and three sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Boyd, Mrs. Elizabeth Glover and Mrs. S. H. Elwell of Yeddo, Ind. and F. M. Yount of Kansas survive the deceased. The funeral services were held Wednesday at the Lutheran church near Wallace, Ind. Interment taking place in the Wallace cemetery. -- kbz
