Walter B. “Dick” Young, 78, a retired 30 -year employee of MidStates Steel & Wire Co died Friday afternoon at his home, 1012 E. Pike St, Montgomery County Coroner Russell Powers said Mr. Young took his own life. Mr. Young was a member of Christ United Methodist Church Wallace Low 12 Club, Veedersburg Lodge 491 F&AM and Valetta Chapter 207 OES. He was a past patron of the OES Chapter., He was a 1918 graduate of Veedersburg HS. He was born Oct 4, 1899 near Wallace, a son of William B. and Mary Ann Fine Young. He was first married in 1943 to Lucille Fishero. She died in 1959. In 1964 he married Ellen Hultz Davidson. She died earlier this year. Surviving are a step-son, David Hultz of Crawfordsville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harry Kern of Indianapolis; six step grandchildren; four step great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in powers Funeral Home with Rev. Leland Britt officiating.
