Veedersburg—John W. “Bill” Young, 67, Route 2, Veedersburg, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 10, 1989, in his car of a heart attack off U.S. 41, north of Kingman.
He was born Dec. 3, 1921, at Yeddo, the son of David and Carrie Day Young. He was married July 31, 1949, at Dexter, Mo., to Betty Stuart, who survives.
He was a life resident of Fountain County and a 1940 graduate of Kingman High School. He was a member of New Liberty Christian Church near Hillsboro and was chairman of the church board. He was also a member of the Plowboys (barbershop) Quartet, a 25-year member of the Veedersburg Lions Club and for several years was president of the Fountain County Division of the American Heart Association.
Surviving besides his wife are his mother; three daughters, Mrs. Margie Alexander, Terre Haute; Mrs. Susan Brogden, Harrison, Ohio, and Mary Young, Indianapolis; a sister, Louise Doyle, Washington, Ind.; a brother, Noel, LaPorte, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Friday) in New Liberty Christian Church with the Rev. Richard Throckmorton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro.
Crumley-Williams Funeral Home, Hillsboro, is in charge of arrangements.
