YOUNG, John Ray - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

John Ray Young, 77, of 309 E. Wabash Ave., a retired 36-year employe of Puritan Manufacturing Co., died Friday in Putnam County Hospital at Greencastle. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Fraternal Order of Police. Born March 20, 1894, near Wallace, he was the son of William Bryant and Mary Ann Fine Young. He attended schools in Fountain County. He was married May 12, 1916, to Katherine S. Gollagher at Veedersburg. She preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, John B. (Jack) of Reelsville, and Samuel William of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Mrs. Sanford (Mary Katherine) Boraker of Crawfordsville, Mrs. George H. (Virginia) Simmons of Crawfordsville; a brother, Walter B. (Dick) Young of Crawfordsville; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Powers Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Miller officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Sunday.   --typed by Walt W
