COVINGTON – John Edward Young, 75, of Rt. 2, Covington, died at 4:10 a.m. Sunday in the Danville Care Nursing Home at Danville, Ill. He was born Sept. 23, 1894 in Vermilion County, Ill., a son of John Edward and Emma Ralston Young. He was married on May 27, 1915 to Lula Anderson, who preceded him in death Feb. 24, 1924. He was later married to Ethel Boughner on Sept. 12, 1923, and she preceded him in death Oct. 12, 1964. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mary Spring and Mrs. Thelma Hoskins, both of Covington; a step-daughter, Mrs. Opal Hegg of Covington; two step-sons, Cullen Boughner of Warren, and George Boughner of Niles, Mich., seven step-grandchildren and 21 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, six brothers, and two sisters, and a step-granddaughter. A lifetime Warren County resident, he was a machinist at the C & EI railroad shops in Danville, Ill., for 41 years, until his retirement in 1964. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Benson Chapel of the United Methodist Church, with Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. COVINGTON, Ind. – John Edward Young, 75, of Covington died Sunday morning (Sept. 28, 1969) at Danville Care, where he had been a patient since July 25. He had been in ill health 18 months, He was born Sept. 23, 1894, in Vermilion County, Ill., a son of John Edward and Emma Ralston Young. He married Lula Anderson May 27, 1915. She died Feb. 24, 1921. He married Ethyl Boughner Sept. 12, 1923 and she died Oct. 12, 1964. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Spring and Mrs. Thelma Hoskins, both of Covington Route 2; three step children, Mrs. Opal Hegg of Covington Route 2, Cullen Boughner of Warren, and George Boughner of Niles Mich.; seven step-grandchildren and 21 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, six brothers, two sisters, and a step-granddaughter. Mr. Young was a life resident of Warren County and worked as a machinist’s helper at the C & EI shops 41 years. He retired in November 1964. He was a member of Benson Chapel United Methodist Church and was a devoted sports fan of Covington High. Services will be at 2 p.m. EDT Tuesday at Benson Chapel with the Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends will be received at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington this afternoon and tonight. The body will be taken to the chapel an hour before services.   -– jlr
