YOUNG, Herschel Leroy - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

ATTICA — Herschel Leroy Young Sr., 89, Attica, died at 3:02 a.m., Wednesday, June 23, 1999 in the emergency room of St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital. Born June 17, 1910 in Warren County, he was the son of Raymond Reuben and Bertha Citizen Young. He married Hettie Jane Foster May 11, 1946 in Independence. She preceded him in death March 4, 1993. He was raised in Warren County and attended Kramer school. He resided most of his life in Attica. He was formerly employed in the shake-out department at Harrison Steel Casting Co. in Attica, retiring in 1972. He was a former member of the Riverview United Methodist Church. Survivors include: son, Vernon “Vernie” Foster, Williamsport, Pa.; daughters, Carol Sue Ellis and Brenda Hemp, both of Attica, Linda Lou Pugh, Crawfordsville; brother, Raymond R. Young Jr., Haines City, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by son, Herschel L. Young Jr.; and sister, Myrtle Stephens. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. John P. Francis officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions can be made to the Special Olympics. – jlr
