VEEDERSBURG — Fred B. Young, age 67, a life resident of Fountain County, died at 4 a.m. Friday, July 23, at the Veterans Facility in Danville, Ill., a short time after admittance. He had been ill the past two years. Mr. Young was born in Veedersburg April 28, 1898, the son of Bloomer and Ada Miller Young. He married Marie A. Allen on June 23, 1922. He was a retired carpenter and a former resident of Covington. Mr. Young was a member of the First Christian Church of Veedersburg, The American Legion and the VFW at Veedersburg. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three stepchildren, Miss Mildred L. Allen and Mrs. Gerald Grady of Veedersburg and Herman Don Allen of Covington; one half-sister, Mrs. Carrie Ballard of Englewood, Colo., and eight step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Sever Mortuary here. The Rev. Dennis Slaughter officiated and burial was in Rockfield Cemetery, southeast of Veedersburg. Military graveside rites were conducted by the Covington VFW Post and the Veedersburg American Legion Post.   --typed by Walt W
