YERKES, Owen - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Veedersburg - Owen Yerkes, 93 1/2 who grew up in Veedersburg, died Saturday, May 4 in West Palm Beach, Florida after a long illness. He was the son of the late Franklin and Mary Cochran Yerkes. The Cochran family were among the early settlers of Fountain County. Mr. Yerkes is survived by a daughter, Miss D. Lorraine Yerkes, a design consultant of Palm Beach, Florida. He and his family had lived in Chicago from 1918-1951 where Mr. Yerkes was associated with Western Union Telephone Company. After his retirement he and his wife and daughter moved to Palm Beach. His wife preceded him in death in 1960 and his only son, Wallace Franklin Yerkes, a prominent architect of Chicago died in 1965.
