YERKES, Grace Hendrix - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

-- Mrs. Grace Yerkes, 90-year-old resident of Covington Rt 1, died at her home at 5:30 p.m. Monday March 14.  She had been in ill health several years and an invalid for the past 4.  Mrs. Yerkes was born Oct 7, 1875, east of Covington, the daughte rof Arbanas and Zoe Clark Hendrix.  She was married Jan 14, 1898 to Jones I. Yerkes whop receded her in death May 24, 1952. She was a life resident of Covington community and had lived in Wabash Twp 68 years. She attended school in Covington and graduated from the old Indiana Normal College at Covington.  She was the last of a family of 4 children. Mrs. Yerkes attended Wabash Chapel Church south of Covington.  Survivors include one daughter, Miss Gyneth Yerkest at home; one niece, Mrs. Dave (Zola) Shoup of Arlington, VA and one nephew, Floyd DeHaven of Covington.  The body will be taken to the residence south of Covington where friends may pay their respects Wednesday afternoon and evening, March 16.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington.
