George H. Yeagy, 70, 1120 S. Webster St., died at 10.09 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 1984, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital. He was born in Attica, Aug. 5, 1914, a son of George H. and Bertha (Coon) Yeagy. Yeagy, a member of Grace United Methodist Church, was a Navy veteran of World War II and a professional hairdresser, owning his own shop for many years. He also taught at Wright Beauty College for 4 1/2 years, retiring in 1972. A 1933 graduate of Kokomo High School, Yeagy served in all offices of the Kokomo Art Association and was a member of Sculptors Guild of Kokomo and Wabash Valley Woodcrafters. Yeagy had received numerous awards in watercolors, ceramics, pencil sketches, sculpture, wood and metal, and paper sculpture. He won three mayor awards in the Sights and Scenes exhibit of the Kokomo Art Association - in 1975 for his sketch of Selberling Mansion; in 1978, his sketch of St. Patrick Catholic Church; and in 1982, his pen and ink of Selberling Mansion. He had exhibited in various other shows. He was the recipient of the 1983 Creative Arts Council's community service award. Surviving is a sister, June Higgins of Kokomo. A brother is deceased. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Fenn Funeral Home with the Rev. Mervin Reed officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.
