Gerry A. Voss, 85, 2517 S. Ninth St., Lafayette, died at 1:25 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, in St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been in failing health the past two years and a patient at St. Anthony's Healthcare before entering the hospital. He was born in Holland May 24, 1901. He was educated there and came to the United States and settled in Lafayette when he was 25 years old. He was married to Frances C. Hatke, in Attica, Oct. 9, 1933. She died March 15, 1980. He was a crane operator and shop foreman for Alcoa for 29 years, retiring in 1962. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a life member of Eagles Lodge 347. Surviving are a brother, Theodore Voss, of Friesland, Holland, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Hahn Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Chappa OFM officiating. Burial was in St. Boniface Cemetery. Wake service was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Eagle rites at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
