VORHIS, William - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

William VORHIS, who lived 5 miles southwest of Hillsboro, was found dead by the roadside about one mile north of that town early Wed morning. He had been to Mellott during the day and left there late at night, somewhat intoxicated for his home. His horse and cutter were seen passing through Hillsboro driverless and a searching party at once left from that place who found his lifeless body by the roadside, about a mile north of Hillsboro with his neck broken, supposedly to have been caused by his falling out of his sleigh. The deceased was about 40 years of age and leaves a widow and 4 children.
