WEST LEBANON — Funeral services for Thomas August Verden, age 84, of near Marshfield on Williamsport Rt. 2, who died Wednesday afternoon, April 14, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, in Danville, Ill., were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Crowner-Siddens Funeral Home here. The Rev. Fred Schreiber and the Rev. Grover Williams Jr. officiated and burial was in the West Lebanon Cemetery. Mr. Verden was born April 27, 1880, near Marshfield, the son of William B. and Mary E. Hagley Verden. He was married Feb. 14, 1904, to Bessie Ewen, who survives. He was a farmer and a carpenter. He was a life resident of Warren County and was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: two sons, Ray of Covington Rt. 2 and Merle L. of Fulton, Ill., a former resident of Covington; two daughters, Mrs. Esther Metcalf of Danville, Ill., and Miss Mildred Verden at home; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and an infant son. -- typed by Walt W
