Mrs. Jessie Fremont Pickett, 94, died Thursday morning at the Ben Hur Nursing Home where she had lived for six weeks. Mrs. Pickett, who had lived for many years at 407 E. Main St. was born on Feb. 10, 1868, on the location where Bright Funeral Home now stands. Her parents were Isaac Newton Van Sickle and Mary Catherine Bromley Van Sickle. She married Walter C. Pickett, who died June 14, 1951. He had been a merchant here with the firm of Barnhill, Hornaday & Pickett. She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn E. Pickett, retired women’s editor of the Indianapolis Star, who lives at Speedway; a son, W. Nathan Pickett, an employee at the Elston Bank & Trust Co.; a granddaughter, Mary Anne Pickett, a junior at Lake Forest College, and a grandson, Ensign William Beatty Pickett, U.S.N. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Mabel Robb. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bright Funeral Home by Rev. W. Goddard Sherman of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
