COVINGTON – Ora L. VanPelt, 76, of 615 Pearl St., Covington, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in International Nursing Home at Danville, Ill. He had been seriously ill for the past six months and had been a patient in the nursing home for seven days. Mr. VanPelt retired in 1965 from Neal & Interstate Sand and Gravel Co. where he had been employed for 30 years. He was a member of the Interstate Rod and Gun Club and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Born Sept. 14, 1900, at Marshfield he was the son of James and Nora Ricketts VanPelt. He was married to Dorothy Taylor July 25, 1925, at Danville. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harlan (Marjorie) Glover of Rt. 4, Veedersburg; two sons, Donald and James T. both of Danville; a sister, Mrs. Mabel Switzer of Lafayette, nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in DeVerter Funeral Home at Covington with the Rev. Loren Todd officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Memorial donations may be sent to Benson Chapel United Methodist Church at Covington. -– jlr
