VEEDERSBURG — A life resident of the Veedersburg community, James M. Vanote, 62, passed away at 6 a.m. Tuesday in Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient four days.
Formerly a member of the Veedersburg police department, more recently Mr. Vanote had been a member of the town street department. He was also a member of the Veedersburg Volunteer Fire Department.
He was born March 7, 1902, in this area, the son of Henry and Matie (Howery) Vanote. He was married to Gladys Harper who passed away in 1931.
Funeral services will be held from the Sever Funeral Home with Rev. J. Samuel Pritchard, pastor of the E. U. B. Church, officiating. Burial will be made in Cold Spring Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after the noon hour Wednesday. Surviving are his mother of Veedersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Smith of Danville, Ill., and Mrs. Wreatha Lightle of Lawrence; two sons, Clarence of Farmersburg and Russel, of Ontario, Calif.; and two brothers, Thomas of Veedersburg and Lawrence of New Augusta.
