COVINGTON --- Nathan Van Lear, 81, died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday in the Rudisill Nursing Home here, where he had been a patient since June. He had been a resident here since 1961, but had lived most of his life in the Lodi community. He was a retired farmer and coal miner. He was born here Nov. 21, 1885, to Henry and Ella Goldbach VanLear. In 1906, he married Ada Belle Hinton. She died May 9, 1966. He also was preceded in death by a son and daughter. Survivors include three grandchildren, Clarence McClure of Veedersburg; Betty L. Everson, Covington; and Helen Killingsworth, Daily, W. Va.; 13 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. (EST) Friday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home here with Rev. Glenn Ray officiating. Burial will be in Hicks Cemetery, Perrysville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday Dec 23 for Nathan VanLear, 81, retired farmer and coal miner who died Wednesday at 8:35 a.m. Services were held at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Glenn Ray officiated and burial was in Hicks Cemetery, Perrysville. Mr. Vanlear had been a resident of the Rudisill Nursing Home in Covington since June. He was born in Covington Nov 21, 1885 to Henry and Ella Goldbach VanLear. In 1906, he married Ada Belle Hinton who preceded him in death on May 9, 1966. He was also preceded in death by a son and daughter. He had been a resident in the community since 1961, living most of his life in the Lodi area.
