Mrs. Lucinda (Clinnie) VanDorn, 87, a life resident of the Covington area died unexpectedly at her home there at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday April 21. Funeral services were to be held at 2:30 p.m. today (Friday) at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Ashley officiating and burial in Bend Cemetery. She was born Sept 9, 1876 on a Troy Township farm, the daughter of James C. and Emma Bilsland Everly. She married Oct 30, 1898 to Samuel VanDorn who died Feb 8, 1959. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Covington and her membership in Troy Chapter, Eastern Star was the longest of the present list. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and of the Troy Township Farm Bureau. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Frank Y. (Helen) Shelby of Covington and six grandchildren, Richard V. Shelby and Robert G. Shelby, Covington; Donald R. Shelby, Lafayette; Mrs. Virginia Bennett, Columbus, O; Mrs. Mary E. Hoagland, Covington and 15 great grandchildren. A brother died in infancy. – kbz
