Veedersburg—Cyrus E. VanDeventer, 92, 304 N. Newlin St., Veedersburg, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 1989 in United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill.

  He was born June 5, 1896 on Route 2, Veedersburg, the son of William and Myrtle Huffman VanDeventer. He was married Jan. 29, 1929 at Rockville, to Hazel L. Erwin, who preceded him in death in 1975.

  He was a World War II veteran and was a farmer. He was a charter and 70-year member of the Veedersburg Charles Forrest Post 288 of the American Legion, 70-year member and past master of the Veedersburg Masonic Lodge and Valetta Chapter of eastern Star, a life member of New Century Church near Veedersburg and a member of Veedersburg Farm Bureau.

  Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Gladys Hesler, Danville, Ill., and Doris Erwin, Veedersburg, and a cousin, Thoranza Hesler, Hillsboro. He was also preceded in death by a sister.

  Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg, with the Rev. Phillip Edwards officiating. Burial was in Bonebrake Cemetery with military rites. – thanks to S
