GLENDORA, Calif. — June (Frye)
Uteg, 78, Glendora, Calif., died Friday, June 23, 2006. She was born June 12,
1928 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Lewis and Mabel Frye of Hillsboro. She
was raised in Chicago and graduated from Steinmetz High School in 1946. She
moved to Carpentersville, Ill. in 1956 to raise her family. She was a Girl
Scout leader, election judge, and avid bowler. She spent many summers with her
family in Hillsboro. She moved to California in 1978 and became a certified
dietitian working in San Gabriel. She loved to garden and crochet and was
active in her mobile home association as president and editor of the
association newsletter. Survivors include: her children, June (Jim) Pittenger,
Illinois, Jim Powers, California, Jackie (Danny) Ruiz, Illinois, Janice
(Robert) Hickok, California, John Peterson, Florida, Jerri (Patrick) Werner,
Illinois, and Jeffrey Peterson, California; 11 grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; and her siblings, John (Patty) Meadows, Indiana, Ralph
(Alice) Gamberdella, Illinois, Rosemarie Gamberdella, California, Esther
Gamberdella, Oregon, Tom (Lily) Frye, Indiana, Ed Van Houten, Oregan, and Honey
Catalano, California. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a
daughter, Janice; two brothers, Tom and Ed; a sister, Honey; and a
sister-in-law, Alice. A memorial service was at 1 p.m. Saturday in Rockfield
Cemetery, Veedersburg, with Gary Johnson officiating. Local arrangements by
Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg. Donations can be made to the American Lung
Association or the charity of one's choice. –
