Albert Cleveland Underwood, 76, retired businessman and former county recorder and city councilman, died at his home, 206 W. Pike St, at 10:30 o'clock Friday night. Although he had been in failing health for some time, his death came suddenly as the result of a heart attack. Underwood was elected county recorder in 1930 and served for the following 4 years. He was appointed to City Council in 1958 and served more than a year. He was an active worker in the Democratic party all of his adult life. Born Oct 13, 1884, at Waynetown, he was the son of Edward and Elvina Livengood Underwood. He was married March 12, 1911, to Anna Dossett in Waynetown. They moved to Crawfordsville in 1925. Underwood was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge in Crawfordsville. He was a member of the Waynetown Masonic Lodge and belonged to the Shrine & Scottish Rite. The survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph K. Burrin of Covington; a sister, Mrs. Amy Underwood of Waynetown; two grandchildren, and two aunts, Mrs. Phrana Bell and Mrs. Nettie Ratcliff, both of Hillsboro. A son, Max Underwood, preceded his father in death in 1933. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Rev. Guy Tremaine and Rev. Hilton Whitaker will be in charge of the services with burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. - kbz

Services were at 2 p.m. (DST) Monday in the Hunt and Sons Funeral Home at Crawfordsville for Albert C. Underwood, 76, former Kingman resident who died Friday at home at Crawfordsville.  Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
He had been ill several months.  He had lived in Crawfordsville for 36 years.
Born Dec. 13, 1884 in Waynetown, he was the son of Edward and Susan Elvina Livengood Underwood.
He married Anna M. Dossett on March 12, 1911 in Waynetown.  He was a member of the Crawfordsville Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge, and Scottish Rite of Indianapolis.
Surviving are the wife; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph K. Burrin of Covington; a sister, Mrs. Amy Robinson of Waynetown; and two grandchildren.
