Funeral services for Claude Vernon Tunin, age 81, of Kingman Rt. 2, a life-resident of the Cates area, who died Thursday night, April 14, at his home, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Mrs. Lelia Watson officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Tunin was born Sept. 29, 1884, in Parke County, the son of Robert and Nancy Elizabeth Osborn Tunin. He was married March 25, 1908, to Mamie Barker, who survives. He was a farmer and had been employed by the Fountain County Highway Department for 18 years.
Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one son, Fred of Terre 'Haute; one daughter, Mrs. Esther Robinson of Yeddo; three brothers, Harry of Kingman Rt. 2, Laurel of Kingman and Cecil of Kingman Rt. I; five grandchildren and six great -grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and one sister.
Serving as pallbearers were: Cedric Shoaf, Julian Shoaf, Patrick Lindley, Perry Lindley, Perry Riley and Larry Tunin.
