ATTICA, Ind. - Sherman E. Troxel, 77, of 701 Summit, Attica, died at Community Hospital in Williamsport at 5 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 12, 1968) where he had been a patient since Dec. 7. He had been ill the past year, and seriously ill the past three months. Born near Carbondale in Warren County Nov. 11, 1891, he was the son of William P. and Anna Mae Hanly Troxel. He was married Nov. 6, 1924 in Attica to Opal E. Stetler, who survives. They had moved to a farm near Riverside in Fountain County in 1907 and he farmed the C. C. Johnson farm near, Bethel for 30 years, retiring 12 years ago when moving to Attica. He attended the Attica Free Methodist Church. Also suriviving are three sons, Wilbur and Bobby, both of Lafayette and Harold L. of Attica; two daughters, Mrs. Wreatha Allen of Williamsport Route 1 and Mrs. Carol Rechkemmer of Lafayette; two brothers, William Troxel of Lafayette and Reuben of West Point; a sister, Mrs. Vivian Hansen of Cloverdale and 19 grandchildren. Friends will be received at the De Sutter Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Friday. Services will be at the De Sutter Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Darold Hill, pastor of the Attica Free Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, east of Attica. -- jlr
