Alva C. Trobaugh Sr., 89, of Danville, died Tuesday July 14, 1987. Born April 22, 1898, in Covington, Ind., son and Nathan and Isabelle Kesner Trobaugh. He attended Grant and Tilton Schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran with the Rainbow Division Field Artillery during World War I. He was a tool and dye maker for the Allith-Prouty Company, retiring in 1968. He then worked at Vermilion County Farm Bureau with his wife until 1977. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where he was a former trustee, assistant Sunday School superintendent, and active in other areas of the church. He was a member of American Legion Post 210 and VFW. He married Elsie B. Handley June 22, 1929, in Danville. She survives. Also surviving: three sons, George R. Trobaugh of Wilmington, N.C., A. Carl Trobaugh of Bradley, Ill, and a son of Princeton, W.V.; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Roberts of Gloucester, Va.; several cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Pape Memorial Home & Gardens; Officiating: Rev. Robert Watson; Burial: Sunset Memorial Park with graveside military rites by American Legion Post 210; Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home; Memorials: First Church of the Nazarene.
