Veedersburg—Lorene Eugene Townsend, 46, of Tacoma, Wash., formerly of Veedersburg, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 1974 at his home following a heart attack. He had suffered an attack a few years ago and had been hospitalised two weeks prior to his death.
Born Sept. 9, 1927, near Veedersburg, he was the son of Ben and Ruby Furr Townsend. In 1956 in Germany, he married Erma Barthel, who survives.
A graduate of Covington High, he had resided in Tacoma for seven years.
He served in the Army in German and Italy and because of his health, had retired at Ft. Lewis, Wash., after 22 years of service.
Survivors also include a son, Brian at home; a daughter, Rose Marie at home; two sisters, Mrs. Dick (Lorna) Rusk of Veedersburg and Mrs. Paul (Dorla) Hartsaw of Indianapolis; a brother, Daryl of Indianapolis; his mother, Mrs. Sarah Ruby Townsend of Veedersburg; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Alina Furr of Veedersburg.
