ELIZABETH COX TOWELL, daughter of Joseph and Mary Cox born March 30th, 1817, near Parli (Paoli), Orange Co., Ind. She was united in marriage to Isaac Towell in 1834.  To this union were born thirteen children, nine daughters and four sons, the husband, six daughters and one son having preceeded her to the other world. She with her husband came to Fountain county in 1838 and settled on the old Towell home stead three miles west of Kingman where she lived a useful and industrious life. While she had many cares in her own household she always found time to assist those about her.
During the last few years she lived with her children, having recently made her home with her daughter Kate Hobart at Indianapolis. During the last few months her health had been failing and realizing this she longed to back to the old home to die. Upon hearing of her son George’s death Aug. 17 she felt able to attend his funeral.  About three hours before she intended leaving the old home for the last time to return to Indianapolis she received a fall this hastening the affliction that caused her death. During her late illness she often mentioned that she was ready to go and wished for the summons to come,  which came Sept. 14th having lived 91 years 5 months and 16 days. Funeral services were conducted from the Friends church at Rush Creek Tuesday at 3 p.m. by Rev. J. E. Miller afterwhich the remains were laid to rest in the Rush Creek cemetery. - S
