COVINGTON - Oscar E. Tornquist, 68, of Rt. 2, Covington, died 9:50 a.m. Tuesday en route to St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill., after he apparently suffered a heart attack while driving to work. He was born Oct. 9, 1901 in Vermillion County, a son of John and Mary Seaborg Tornquist. He was married to Vera Kilby March 14, 1933. Surviving with the wife are a son, John of Attica; a daughter, Mrs. Duane (Nancy) Shumaker of Veedersburg; two sisters, Miss Ellen Tornquist and Mrs. Judith Lewis, both of Danville, Ill., and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, four sisters, and a granddaughter. He has been a Covington resident the past four years, and had resided at Veedersburg before moving here. Early in his life he had lived at Danville, Ill. He was a farmer and had retired in 1965. He was a member of the Fountain County Farm Bureau. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home here, with Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and evening. -- jlr
