DANVILLE, Ill. — Betty Joyce McNeese-Toney, 74, Danville, ill., died at 7:14 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 in Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Ill., where she had been a patient three days. She had been a resident of Danville since 1946 and a former resident of Kingman. She was born June 8, 1928 in rural Covington, Vermillion County, the daughter of Cecil R. and Berneice L. Martin Tallman. She married Sam McNeese Feb. 9, 1946 in Henderson, Ky. He preceded in death Nov. 6, 1988. She married John R. Toney June 10, 2000. He survives. She graduated from Kingman High School in 1946. She was employed by Singer in Danville for 27 years before retiring and was a Mary Kay representative. Her memberships included Second Church of Christ, Governor Bradford Chapter D.A.R., Peoria Boat Club, Moose Lodge #1001 and Kingman Birthday Club. She enjoyed boating, sewing and alterations, flowers, playing cards, cooking and her pet dogs. Survivors, besides the husband, include: a son, Michael (Kay) McNeese, Henning, Ill.; two daughters, Linda C. McNeese, Mattoon, Ill. and Joyce (Garry) Coffing, Danville, Ill.; a sister, Beverly (Charles) Long, Danville, Ill.; a grandson, Christopher (Dawn) McNeese, Danville, Ill. and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Delores Wallen Minton. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with the Rev. Buddy Wilson officiating. Burial was in Lower Mound Cemetery Covington. – jlr
