COVINGTON — Charles A. Tittle, 74, former Covington resident, died at 1 p.m. Friday in a hospital at Wayne, Mich., where he had been a patient since Nov. 20. He had made his home with a sister-in-law, Mrs. Thelma Smith. He had been ill the last two months. He was born Jan. 13, 1888 in Covington, a son of George and Lucy Johnson Tittle. He was married twice, first to Elizabeth Cathrine Sayer July 6, 1908. She died Aug. 17, 1952. He was wed Feb. 23, 1953 to Lillian May Bell, who died Oct. 22, 1962. Survivors include a son, Burton of Royal Oak, Mich., two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Meitzler of Elkhart. Mr. Tittle owned and operated a blacksmith shop here, retiring in 1948. He lived since that time south of Danville, spending the winters in Towers Park at Tampa, Fla. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. (EST) Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here, with burial in Upper Mounds Cemetery west of Covington. Rev. E. E. McConell will officiate.
