Barney Tibbetts, well known in Fountain County and a resident of Attica died of a heart attack last Thursday evening at the Glascock Pond southwest of Veedersburg while on a fishing trip.

Mr. Tibbetts was fishing from a small boat near the shore of the pond when he evidently suffered the attack and fell into the water.  He was accompanied to the pond by Pearly Kight of Attica, and who was fishing from the other side of the pond when he noticed the boat and Tibbetts hat floating off shore.  He immediately yelled but got no response. This was about 4 o'clock in the afternoon.

Mr. Kight ran to Oscar Lindquist farm and phoned for assistance and his call answered by policeman Kelso Cartwright, Charles Fisher, the coroner and state policeman James Frazer and Harris Lindamood.

His body was found at 1:25 after dragging the pond for many hours. The examination revealed that Mr. Tibbett had evidently suffered the heart attack as there was no water in his lungs.  He is survived by the widow, a son and three brothers and a sister. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon.   --- transcribed by kbz - provided by Betty D.
