MELLOTT - Funeral services for Willard S. T. Thompson, age 77, a resident of Mellott for 16 months, who died early Tuesday, April 1, in the Veterans Hospital, Indianapolis, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Sam Smith officiated and burial was in Union Cemetery near Newtown.
Mr. Thompson, who was a retired guard and chef at the Indiana State Reformatory at Pendleton for 22 years, had been ill four
months.
He was born near Hillsboro Aug. 15, 1891, the son of John McSee and Mary
Smith Thompson. His first marriage was to Edna Lines, who, died in 1965. On Nov. 15, 1967, he was married Minnie Royal of Mellott and she survives. He was an Army veteran of World War I, a member of the Fortville Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge there. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis.
Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: three step-sons, Joe Lines of Anderson, William R. Royal of Lafayette and Clinton Royal of Veedersburg; three step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Wilson of Indianapolis, Mrs. Clara Farren of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. and Mrs. Martha Wendell of Hillsboro, and one sister, Mrs. Nellie F. Maryin of Danville, Ill.
