THOMPSON, Pearl McHargue

One of the most heart rending incidents we have been called upon to chronicle for some time is the death of MRS. FRED THOMPSON, , formerly Miss PEARL McHARGUE, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. M. McHargue of this place, which occurred at her beautiful farm home near Sheldon, Ill., about 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, following the birth of a child, the infant preceding its mother in death only a few hours.
It is very sad indeed that one so young should be called from earthly toil, and because of her extreme popularity and wide acquaintance in this vicinity, the head of every man, woman and child is bowed in grief fully sympathizing with the father and mother, sisters, brother and other relatives who mourn her departure.
Pearl was a good Christian and a true type of noble womanhood. She was ever faithful to her religious vows, and demonstrated the teachings of the Christ in such a manner as to establish her assurance of the life eternal, where the pangs of earthly suffering and death have no cognizance, and heavenly harmony reigns supreme.
Funeral services were held at 10 o’clock Thursday morning, burial being made in a cemetery near Sheldon. All of the near relatives were in attendance at the funeral services. – S
