Ortha Thompson, a former resident of Fountain County died at his home at Petosky, Mich Wednesday morning of last week about 9 o’clock. The deceased was 64 years old. The body was shipped to this city, arriving here Friday morning on No 9 Wabash passenger train due here at 6:55 o’clock which was an hour late. The body was accompanied here by the son, William Thompson. The remains were taken direct to the Salem Church in Davis Township where the funeral was conducted at 10 o’clock, the pastor of the ME Church of Roberts officiating. Burial was made in the Salem cemetery by the side of his wife who died Jan 9, 1920. The deceased was born on a farm northwest of Rainsville. His father died when he was a small lad after which he made his home with his uncle, George Thompson near Covington until he was about 18 years old. When he was 18 he commenced to do for himself. He worked several seasons for George Brown and Daniel Chizum near Roberts and it was while employed there that he met Anna Allenduff whom he married in 1879. The deceased was a member of the ME Church, he having united with that denomination when he was a young man in Davis Township. He was a man of strict honesty and integrity and had the confidence of those with whom he had business relations. He had been a resident of Michigan for several years. He is survived by a son, William Thompson of Petosky, Mich.
