Leo Thomas, 52, formerly of Tangier, Ind., died Monday, July 21 at 8:15 a.m. at the Veterans Hospital in Danville. He had been a patient two weeks and had been in ill health for some time.
  Born Oct. 18, 1923, he was the son of Clarence and Cynthia Brown Thomas. He was married to Helen Lewis on July 20, 1947 and she survives.
  Mr. Thomas was a graduate of Tangier High School, and attended Danville Jr. College. Served with the Fourth Infantry in WW II, was a former resident of Tangier and Newport, resided in Perrysville for several years where he was a barber. Later moved to Crawfordsville and then to Cates in 1973. He retired due to ill health.
  Surviving with his wife is one daughter, Mrs. John (Norma) Stull of New Market; three grandchildren, two brothers, Freeman Thomas of Lake Side, Arizona and Hershel Thomas of Mooresville, Ind., and one sister, Mrs. Harold (Louise) Edwards of Montezuma.
  He was preceded in death by his parents.
  He was a member of the Emanuel United Methodist Church, Unity Lodge No. 344, F & AM and Walter Hoyt No. 350 American Legion of Perrysville.
  Friends will be received at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 23 with the Rev. Henry Karg officiating.
  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Covington. Military services will be held at the grave.
