Charles Frey, clerk of the Fountain Circuit Court, was called to Winchester, Ky., last week as a witness in a murder trial. The defendant in the case was charged with the murder of his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas. Thomas is a native of Fountain County and resided in Covington for a number of years, working on nearby farms. In September 1943, he married Mrs. Lulu Stone of Loglick, Ky., who he had known for many years. She owned a general store, cream station, and several farms. According to word received here, her son by a former marriage objected to his mother’s marriage and soon after, Thomas went to Kentucky last November. He shot and killed them both. Clerk Frey was summoned as a witness to prove the legality of their marriage, taking with him the official records of the court here. - S
