Pfc. Larry Thomas, 18-year-old Veedersburg Soldier, was killed Monday in a head-on collision of two automobiles in US 41 near Nortonville, Kentucky. In the same wreck two of his companions, Pfc Norbert R. Rebstock, 17 Evansville and Pfc Jerald Wayne Hall was critically injured. The four young soldiers were stationed at Ft. Campbell Ky and were returning to the past at the time of the accident. Larry Thomas, Redstock and Hall had spent the weekend in Veedersburg visiting with his parents, Harold and Rovene Rodenbaugh Thomas. Rebstock, the driver of the car was killed instantly when thrown from the car. The other boys died enroute to the hospital it was learned. Pfc Thomas was born at Tangier July 12, 1939. The family moved to Veedersburg when he was a small child. He attended the Veedersburg HS and enlisted in the Army last September. His basic training was at Ft. Knox and he was then sent to Ft Campbell. Surviving are the parents, 4 brothers: Robert, Ronald, Michael and David; five sisters: Vinnie, Melba, Janice, Lelia and Nancy and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Rodenbaugh of Tangier. Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at the Veedersburg EUB Church at 3 o’clock. The Rev. J. Samuel Pritchard will officiate with burial in Rockfield Cemetery. – kbz
