Joseph H. Thomas, 36 a veteran of World War II died early Friday morning May 8 in the Veteran’s Hospital in Indianapolis after being seriously ill for about six months. He was admitted to the hospital on Thursday. A former resident of Veedersburg for a period immediately following the war he was born at Bellmore, Ind Nov 18, 1915 the son of Donald and Olive Spencer Thomas.  He was married to Dorothy Brown of Veedersburg in 1940. At the time of his death, they lived in Indianapolis where Mr. Thomas was an operating engineer at the RCA plant. Surviving is the wife, two daughters, Sharon and Betty both at home; the parents, a brother and three sisters. Services were held Sunday afternoon at Sterling Christian Church with Rev. Guy Walters officiating. Burial was in the Rockfield Cemetery with the Fishero Funeral Home in charge. – kbz
