Helen Thomas, 58, lifetime resident of Veedersburg died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday Feb 8 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Illinois. She had been in failing health for six months and hospitalized since Wednesday. She had owned and operated Thomas Variety Store in Veedersburg. She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Born in Veedersburg, she was the daughter of Bert and Rosa Butts Simmerman. She married on 11 November 1929 to Paul Thomas who preceded her four years ago. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Mary Basham of Veedersburg. Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday at Sever Mortuary.  Rev. Edith Bruner officiated.  Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery.

VEEDERSBURG -Mrs. Helen Thomas, age 58, a lifelong resident of Veedersburg, died at 11:30 p.m.Thursday, Feb. 8, in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill.  She had been in failing heath for six months and had been admitted to the hospital Wednesday.
Mrs. Thomas owned and operated the Thomas Variety Store in Veedersburg.  She was a member of the Veedersburg Evangelical United Brethren church.
She was bon in Veedersburg April 2, 1909, the daughter of Bert and Rosa Butts Simmerman.  She was married on Nov. 11, 1929 to Paul Thomas, who preceded her in death four years ago.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Basham of Veedersburg.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Sever Mortuary here.  The Rev. Edith Bruner officiated and burial was in Rockfield Cemetery.
