Veedersburg June 3 – George W. Thomas, Civil War Veteran died at his home here Saturday night at 10 o’clock, his death being due to a complication of diseases. He was 78 years old and had been a resident of this place for 50 years, coming here soon after being discharged from the army. He was born at Milford, Ill. Since the death of his wife, which occurred 10 years ago he has resided with his son, Charles Thomas. Two stepdaughters, Mrs. Anna Rusk and Mrs. Eramine Taylor both of this place also survive. The funeral services were held Monday at 3 o’clock at the Sterling Christian Church, Rev. Charles Howard officiating and interment was at the Rockfield Cemetery. – kbz
